An invisible fence is a fence free boundary system that utilizes either a wire which sends a radio signal to activate the receiver collar, or no wire at all, the latter being known as a wireless pet fence. A pet containment system works in a relatively simple manner, as follows:
A wire installed around the perimeter of your residential property will establish your pets' boundaries. Wireless pet fences emit a radio signal from a central unit and they activate when the pet goes beyond a set specific radius from this unit.
A transmitter, which is typically placed in your garage or basement, sends a radio signal along the wire. This radio signal is picked up by your pet's lightweight collar, which emits a warning sound when your pet approaches the predefined boundaries.
If your pet crosses beyond these boundaries, it will receive a mild electric shock from the collar. This is why proper training including static correction to your pets is vitally important in order to reinforce the predetermined boundaries of your residential property.
